    PANTRY MONTH

    Common in homes across all three counties, pantry moths infest dry food like rice, flour, and cereal. They spread quickly and can contaminate entire pantries if left unchecked.

    SPIDERS

    While many spiders are harmless, species like the black widow are common in Sacramento Valley and foothill areas. They thrive in cluttered garages, woodpiles, and crawl spaces.

    WASPS

    Aggressive nesters found under eaves and patio furniture, especially during hot summers. Wasps are a major concern in suburban neighborhoods and outdoor business areas.

    Yellow Jackets

    Highly aggressive and commonly found around trash bins, parks, and BBQ areas. El Dorado's wooded terrain and Placer’s suburban zones often report yellow jacket infestations during summer.

    CENTIPEDES

    Often found in damp basements and bathrooms, especially during cooler months. Their bite can be painful, though not dangerous. Seen more often in older Sacramento and El Dorado homes.

    COCKROACHES

    Cockroach activity is a year-round problem in Sacramento’s urban areas. They spread disease and thrive in warm, damp environments like kitchens and sewers.

    SCORPIONS

    More common in El Dorado and rural Placer areas, especially near rocky or dry environments. While their stings are painful, most species here are not deadly.

    Ants

    Argentine and carpenter ants are the most common in the region. They invade homes in search of water and food, with carpenter ants posing a structural risk in wooded El Dorado homes.

    Black Widows

    Widespread across all three counties. Known for their venomous bite, they hide in dark, undisturbed areas like crawlspaces, sheds, and irrigation boxes.

    CARPET BEETLE

    Often mistaken for bed bugs, these pests feed on natural fibers and can ruin carpets, clothing, and upholstery. Infestations often spike in spring and summer.

    RODENTS

    Mice and rats are prevalent in Sacramento’s older neighborhoods and rural parts of Placer and El Dorado. They carry disease and can damage insulation, wiring, and food supplies.

    SILVER FISH
